Aljex Software has unveiled Aljex Inbound, a hosted service to help third-party logistics providers manage their clients' inbound freight moves. The tool links shippers and suppliers with their 3PLs, allowing for the exchange of information in one place. A 3PL broker sets up limited password access for a customer and its vendors. The system lets each party provide key information, eliminating data reentry errors associated with working by telephone. Brokers, carriers and other transportation providers can use Aljex Inbound even if they don't rely on Aljex for their transportation-management system. Loads generated in Aljex Inbound can be automatically transferred to the user's software via electronic data interchange. Regular Aljex users who set up Aljex Inbound will have it integrated with their system from the beginning, the vendor says. Processes that can be managed through Aljex Inbound include the uploading of active purchase-order numbers, entry of the expected shipment-ready date, editing of shipment details by the vendor as they change, e-mailing the customer when orders are ready, and updating of information by way of EDI 214 shipment-status messages.
