GAC Netherlands Ltd., part of the GAC Group, has opened a Logistics and Maritime Service Centre in Rotterdam, the Netherlands. The facility was set up to house the company's ship spares logistics and freight-forwarding operations under one roof. It consists of a 6,500-square-meter office and warehouse complex. Heading up the operation is managing director Rise Hoogenboezem. The ship spares arm, GAC Marine Logistics (GML), was formerly based in another part of Rotterdam. Ries said the new operation arises from "clear synergies" between GML and GAC-OBC Netherlands, which provides logistics services. GAC said it continues to expand its presence in Europe; other recently opened offices are in Lille, Warsaw, Moscow, Oslo and Almaty and Aktau in Kazakhstan. The GAC Group consists of more than 300 offices and a staff of 8,000. GAC Logistics serves manufacturers, distributors and retailers, with an emphasis on consumer goods, textiles, pharmaceuticals, automotive parts, electronics, entertainment and the oil and gas sector. Services include air and sea freight, warehousing, distribution, road transportation, project logistics, ship spares logistics, international moving and courier services.
