Fuzzy Logix LLC has teamed up with Sybase to provide in-database analytics with its DB Lytix library. Fuzzy Logix is a vendor of analytical technology. Sybase sells information-management systems. The DB Lytix library is based on more than 10 years of research on advanced analytical methods, the companies said. Traditionally, users have had to transport data out of the database for processing. Fuzzy Logix and Sybase have moved analytics to the data and embedded quantitative algorithms in the Sybase IQ platform. As a result, the partners said, users experience faster query results with less complexity. The technology has created an analytics server that supports hundreds of statistical and data-mining functions, using simple SQL statements and running in the database. Industries that can benefit from the joint offering include telecommunications, banking, life sciences and marketing.
