UPM Raflatac is cooperating with Hansaprint on the launching of an NFC [near-field communication] radio frequency identification tag portal known as TagAge. The service will allow customers to create and purchase high-quality, NFC-integrated print products online. TagAge products include labels, patches, stickers and posters. All products can be customized and personalized, with order volumes ranging from dozens to the tens of thousands. TagAge production supports variable data printing to include such elements as consecutive numbers, changing 1D and 2D barcodes, text and images. After choosing a suitable product type and size, the user can upload the desired layout in PDF or other popular image formats. It then selects the RFID tag type, positions it on the product and selects optional tag-encoding information such as URL or SMS. Products can be saved in a personal archive for later retrieval, editing and ordering. UPM Raflatac, a manufacturer of RFID tags and inlays, is in charge of the development and manufacture of the tags used in the TagAge service. Hansaprint is responsible for developing the technical structure of the portal and the end production.
