GXS, a vendor of business-to-business software for electronic commerce, has teamed up with GNS, an e-commerce service provider operating in North Africa, to build a new retail B2B hub in the region. The Morocco Retail eXchange will enable five retailers and 800 suppliers in the region to conduct electronic trading and gain visibility of the regional supply chain. GNS has signed a five-year agreement to utilize GXS Trading Grid as the platform for the exchange. GNS estimates that some 90 percent of orders and invoices in the North Africa region are currently processed manually. The company is working with major retailers and suppliers in the region to build participation in the Morocco Retail eXchange. GNS has relied on GXS Trading Grid services for more than a decade to provide B2B services to customs and port authorities, as well as financial institutions, in Morocco. The Morocco Retail eXchange will utilize GXS Active Orders, a visibility tool built on a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model, to consolidate all order-related information into a central repository. Active Orders automates routine transactions and centralizes the management of order data in a 100-percent paper-free environment, according to GXS.
