LeanLogistics has introduced GreenLanes, a transportation and freight-optimization program that is intended to boost sustainability and reduce empty miles for U.S. shippers and carriers. LeanLogistics offers a variety of transportation and logistics applications, delivered under the software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. GreenLanes draws on proprietary algorithms contained within LeanLogistics' On-Demand TMS [transportation management system], together with supply and demand data from some 32,000 users and 7,000 carriers. Using rules-based modeling, LeanLogistics transportation managers determine opportunities for round trips, continuous moves and fractional dedicated truckload. The tool uses benchmarks relating to network-wide coverage, rates and performance. Shippers obtain the best possible service from carriers, while carriers operate a optimum capacity, LeanLogistics said. GreenLanes is available to all of the vendor's shipper and carrier members. LeanLogistics is an EPA SmartWay partner.
