Oracle Corp. has released a new application, Oracle Global Trade Management. The product offers global, centralized compliance capabilities to companies looking to manage their cross-border transactions. They can control trade-compliance activities related to imports, exports and other types of regulatory, legal and company-mandated policies. Global Trade Management is built on the same platform as Oracle Transportation Management. Features include automated trade compliance, master trade data management, improved product classification, and restricted-party and sanction-screening review. Users can improve compliance with various trade regulations, import and export control regimes, embargoes, sanctions and internal programs for controlling restricted items. In a related development, Oracle has made available version 6.1 of Oracle Transportation Management. The latest release includes extensions to sourcing, planning, execution, financial settlement and visibility across all modes of transportation. It also extends multi-modal capabilities by addressing complex ocean bids along with accessorials for ocean and truck. The Fleet Management module has been given new capabilities to help reduce transportation costs and improve equipment utilization, through enhancement of planning and optimization engines. New business-intelligence capabilities and additional dashboard reports address process efficiency and help users to monitor a number of "green" metrics, including carbon dioxide and nitrogen oxide emissions.
