ALK Technologies Inc., a provider of truck routing, mileage and mapping software, has devised an internet-based version of its PC-MILER application. The tool is designed for owner-operators, fleets, brokers or others requiring accurate mileage for calculating rates or obtaining truck-specific driving directions and maps. The new service is available on the Web through any computer connected to the internet. PC-MILER/Web replaces ALK's Web service, eMILER.com. Upgrades include street-level and hazardous material routing for an unlimited number of stops. Other enhancements include additional reports and mapping functions. Regular updates are available over the internet to all users, via a tier-one data center. Pricing is based on a monthly subscription charge, instead of eMILER's per-route charges. The vendor is offering three subscription packages: Lite, Standard and Premium, with increasing levels of access to PC-MILER's proprietary North American, truck-specific database. ALK is currently offering a free trial of PC-MILER/Web, with 48 hours of access.
