Lightning Pick Technologies has a new wireless pick to light system for warehouses. The NW Series incorporates mobile technology, along with an expanded range of applications that can benefit from light-directed order picking. According to the vendor, the system is ideally suited for temporary or mobile product locations such as totes, bins, shipping containers and pallets on open floors. When placed near the required product location, the portable light module becomes part of the pick to light operation. Bays and zones can draw on a combination of Lightning Pick track-mounted and wireless lights, all of which can be configured within the company's software. White paper light modules present data in multiple ways, beyond the capabilities of traditional LCD displays, including combinations of numbers, text and barcodes. Lightning Pick introduced duct-based pick to light technology in the U.S. in 1998. The track-lighting style hardware reduces installation costs and is more flexible for system reconfiguration, maintenance and expansion. While cable-free displays are the industry standard today, distributors still desire a means of applying pick to light technology to operations that lack the infrastructure for mounted lights, Lightning Pick said.
