A study of IT and business executives shows that a full two-thirds achieve measurable financial results from their dashboard use.
The research, commissioned by ASG Software Solutions and conducted by Enterprise Management Associates, reveals that approximately half of the study's respondents attributed $250,000 in positive dollar contributions from their executive dashboards in the last 12 months. About 29 percent of executives indicated a contribution of more than $500,000.
When asked to indicate all areas where the benefits of executive dashboards apply, respondents ranked improved operational efficiency as the top benefit (66 percent), followed by improved company productivity (65 percent) and improved uptime for critical services (56 percent). Notably, increased revenue directly linked to IT services was specified by 37 percent of respondents as a realized advantage.
According to the report, titled "Executive Dashboards: Optimizing IT Services to Empower Your Business," the key to ensuring that a dashboard generates substantial value lies in how well it is designed. Well-designed executive dashboards assimilate, reconcile, and analyze multiple sources of information according to individual
executive's needs.
EMA's study is based on a survey of C-level and vice-president-level dashboard users at companies with between 500 and more than 10,000 employees, primarily in the North American region.
