Panasonic Solutions Co. has introduced the latest model in its line of rugged notebook computers. The Panasonic Toughbook 31 features an Intel Core i5 or i3 processor, 1,100 nit touchscreen display and rugged certifications beyond MIL-STD-810G and IP65. It is especially well suited for first responders, military personnel and field workers in industries such as telecommunications, utilities and energy, Panasonic said. The Toughbook 31 is the sixth generation of the company's rugged clamshell notebooks. It includes discrete graphics from an ATI Radeon HD 5650 card, resulting in significant improvements in 3D graphics, according to the vendor. A 13.1-inch XGA LCD touchscreen is available with Panasonic CircuLumin technology, allowing for full-circle visibility from bright sunlight to pitch darkness. Panasonic claims a battery life of up to 11 hours for the new device, with a charge time that is 47 percent faster than its predecessor.
