KoamTac Inc., a maker of barcode data-collection devices and scanning modules, has released a set of Bluetooth barcode scanners designed for use with the iPhone, iPad and iPod Touch. At less than two cubic inches and weighing 1.2 ounces, the KDCi series is designed for mobile workers in numerous industries, including transportation, field service, retail and healthcare. Bright displays allow iPhone and iPad users to send application workflow and instructions, with one-hand operation. The units can be attached to the body by way of a retractable belt lanyard. KDCi is available in two models: the KDC200i, which integrates a laser scan engine for reading all popular linear barcodes, and the KDC300i, utilizing Adaptus Imaging technology from Honeywell for omnidirectional reading of linear and 2D barcodes, postal codes and optical character recognition codes. On a fully charged battery, both models can scan and transfer barcodes for several days, with a Bluetooth connection enabled, KoamTac said.
