The Enterprise Mobility Solutions (EMS) division of Motorola Inc. has introduced the CS3000 series of portable 1D laser-scanning devices. The technology is aimed at workers who require basic barcode-scanning capabilities for mobile applications. Available in two models, batch or Bluetooth, the CS3000 series fits in a pocket or on a lanyard. It can be utilized in standalone mode for the batch scanning of barcodes. The CS3070 offers both batch and real-time data transmission to a host application via a wireless Bluetooth connection to smartphones, laptops and other electronic devices. A two-button interface requires little or no training for users to get started, according to Motorola. Additional features of the CS3000 series include an ergonomic design for scan-intensive tasks; large memory capacity, allowing workers to capture more than one million barcodes; durable design, including IP40 sealing and the ability to withstand drops and tumbles, and long battery life, ensuring more than a single shift of scanning performance per charge.
