Laufer Group International, a Global Logistics Management company headquartered in New York City, is pleased to announce their recently expanded full service Customs Bonded Container Freight Station in Kansas City, Missouri is an authorized Certified Cargo Screening Facility (CCSF) per TSA guidelines.
Effective August 1, 2010, Congress has mandated a 100% cargo screening deadline. This mandate requires all cargo moving on passenger aircraft to be screened at the lowest piece level.
"We have taken the initiative to become a CCSF to protect our customers supply chain. By screening our client's air cargo locally, we are able to bypass potential screening bottlenecks at the airlines and gateways enabling our cargo to move to the front of the line. Our clients pay a premium for air freight and we do not want their cargo delayed while it is waiting to be screened," says Marc Van Gorp, Export Manager at Laufer's Kansas City facility.
The Transportation Security Administration (TSA) created the Certified Cargo Screening Program (CCSP) as a way for shippers and freight forwarders to maintain shipment integrity, adhere to security requirements, and meet delivery schedules. The program authorizes a CCSF to screen cargo prior to acceptance at the air carrier.
"This initiative enables us to reduce costs and improve transit times by eliminating airline screening fees and delays while reducing security surcharges," continued Van Gorp.
In addition to Laufer Kansas City being able to screen cargo, each Laufer office is now authorized to tender and transport screened cargo.
