The PC-MILER mapping and routing software of ALK Technologies is now integrated with Oracle Transportation Management 6.1. Oracle's application helps users to streamline planning, execution, financial settlement, visibility and business process automation across all modes of transportation. The integration involves multiple PC-MILER products, including PC-MILER/Streets, Rail and Worldwide, providing Oracle users with up-to-date routing and distance calculations. ALK is a Gold level member in the Oracle PartnerNetwork. In a related announcement, ALK has released version 24 of its PC-MILER Web Services. The hosted interfacing application provides PC-MILER map data and functionality regardless of IT infrastructure. It utilizes a schema-driven XML/SOAP interface developed in Microsoft .NET, packaged as a Web service. PC-MILER Web Services offers all of the features and benefits of PC-MILER 24, a tool for reducing transportation costs through the reduction of out-of-route mileage. The Web services application also calculates truck-specific toll costs based on vehicle weight and axle count. New features and enhancements include least-cost routing, which generates optimal routes based on custom fuel efficiency and operational cost settings; a greenhouse gas calculator; reports that compare different routes or the impact of various routing options on the same route; display of multiple routes on the map at the same time, and free quarterly updates of U.S. ZIP codes.
