SkyBitz has joined with QinetiQ to provide global terrestrial tracking capabilities in difficult operational environments. SkyBitz is a provider of remote asset tracking and information management systems. QinetiQ specializes in GPS-enabled telematics, integrating wireless communications, monitoring and location devices. The partnership allows SkyBitz to serve customer markets in North America as well as internationally, in the areas of high-value movements, local delivery, heavy and construction equipment, and transportation via flatbed and less-than-truckload services. The focus is on assets that require a high-data-rate service via a ruggedized device and secure terrestrial network, the companies said. QinetiQ has a history of expertise in international defense and security markets. SkyBitz's Falcon Series GXT1000 tracking system, the first offering under the new agreement, offers improved security measures for flatbed assets, with the ability to be installed virtually anywhere. It also provides real-time visibility for asset management.
