"X-SCM: The New Science of X-treme Supply Chain Management" is the title of a new book featuring contributions from numerous experts on the topic of supply-chain volatility. The book offers examples of how companies today are applying "extreme" supply-chain management principles to boost visibility and execution. It includes an online tool set which provides various supply-chain simulations, allowing players to explore, react to and manage volatility scenarios. The book's primary authors are Lisa Harrington, senior research fellow at the University of Maryland (UMD) and president of the lharrington group, and Sandor Boyson and Thomas Corsi, co-directors of the Supply Chain Management Center at UMD.
