Qualcomm Inc. has made available its Media Manager Service for the transportation and logistics market. The service allows fleets to deliver detailed information to drivers remotely through a variety of media, including audio, video and PDF files. It is available on the Mobile Computing Platform 100 and 200 Series. Fleets can use the tool to address a variety of operational, safety and information needs, including corporate updates, training content, forms, permits, maps of properties and special instructions. In the process, Qualcomm said, users can improve their ability to track and manage content being sent to drivers' mobile devices. Drivers can print PDF files with a Qualcomm-recommended in-cab printer. The Media Manager Service can also send files to Wi-Fi users at no charge. In another company announcement, Qualcomm is collaborating with RAIR Technologies, LLC to improve customer compliance with the Hours of Service regulations of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration. The deal enhances the value of Qualcomm Hours of Service by offering improved auditing and analysis of HOS data, which can be captured electronically or on paper. RAIR scans paper logs submitted by fleets, then returns them with additional electronic data that can be audited and compared with Qualcomm's positioning data.
