Iteris Inc. is collaborating with Qualcomm International to deliver safety data to trucking fleets. Iteris is a developer of advanced technologies for reducing traffic congestion and improving the safety of surface transportation infrastructure. Qualcomm is a provider of integrated wireless systems and services to transportation and logistics companies. Under the new arrangement, safety data will be captured by Iteris's Lane Departure Warning systems, and Meritor WABCO's SmartTrac and OnGuard active safety systems, via Qualcomm's Mobile Computing Platform 100 and 200 Series. The combined offering provides a single point of access to synchronize and review driver performance data on braking, stability control, following distances and lane-departure warnings for individual drivers, as well as the entire fleet. The system uses information transmitted from the vehicle by the fleet's mobile computer platform, to provide operators with comprehensive, fleet-wide summaries. They can also drill down to detailed information on individual drivers and events. Qualcomm's Analytics Manager service takes data from multiple sources and converts it into usable information through visual tools such as dashboards, graphs and tables. Users get a holistic view of a fleet's operational and safety performance, with the ability to make timelier and more informed decisions, the partners said.
