Lufthansa Cargo AG plans to add service between Frankfurt, Germany and Manaus, Brazil, beginning Jan. 21, 2011. The carrier will run two MD-11 flights per week, from Frankfurt to Manaus, on Mondays and Fridays. The services will include stopovers in Dakar and Viracopas, Sao Paulo. Return flights from Manaus on Tuesdays and Saturdays will stop in Quito and Bogota, with a technical stop in Curacao. According to Lufthansa, Manaus has evolved into one of Brazil's major industrial centers. The carrier is expanding its customized product to accommodate increased demand from the high-tech industry, especially in Asia. The cargo division operates ten freighter flights per week between Europe and South America, supplemented by 31 passenger flights by Lufthansa.
