Qualcomm Inc. has acquired the holding company of GPSNet Technologies, Inc., which operates Sylectus, a provider of fleet-management software for small transportation companies. The deal was concluded through the Qualcomm Canada, Inc. subsidiary. Qualcomm said it intends to continue to operate the business in the U.S. and Canada under the Sylectus name. The acquisition allows Qualcomm to simplify the process of adopting advanced management services for smaller fleets, helping them to meet new safety and compliance standards, the vendor said. The two companies have been working since 2001 to integrate data and information from Qualcomm's mobile information and computing platforms with Sylectus's dispatch software. They recently completed integration of Qualcomm Hours of Service with Sylectus's dispatch software. Sylectus will operate as a standalone business unit within Qualcomm Enterprise Services.
