Kewill plc, a provider of software for the management of global trade and logistics, has gone live with its Import Control System (ICS) in France and the Czech Republic. ICS is an electronic process mandated by customs authorities, to provide advance visibility of shipments entering Europe. Replacing a paper-based process, it requires detailed information to be submitted electronically prior to the arrival of goods within the European Community. Kewill's system allows for the real-time exchange of data with local customs agencies. Having extended its ICS capability into France and the Czech Republic, the vendor said it is ready to do the same for the U.K. and Poland. In January of this year, Kewill achieved ICS connectivity for Germany and Austria. The company said it is working quickly toward achieving connectivity for all European countries through its suite of electronic customs software applications - CustomsXchange, Zabis and Air Cargo Pool. Kewill's software is aimed at manufacturers, distributors, retailers, freight forwarders, transport companies, customs brokers, logistics service providers, banks and insurance companies.
