Many purchasing professionals do not have clarity about the purchasing practices of their companies, according to a recent Google survey conducted by AmeriQuest Business Services. Fifteen percent of respondents said they didn't know which department manages procurement, the survey says, despite being directly involved in the process.

We've discussed the reasons why companies choose to outsource specific functions and shown how business process outsourcing (BPO) providers can actually improve operations and save money. What we glossed over was the necessary relationship that has to exist between the company that's outsourcing and its provider. Making a success out of this relationship is a shared responsibility, one that cannot be overstated.
