Intelleflex Corp., a specialist in products for achieving on-demand data visibility for the fresh product cold chain, has announced a new program known as The Intelleflex Cool Chain Quick Scan. It enables growers, packers, shippers, distributors and retailers to discover temperature variations in their shipments. The program provides a snapshot of the cold chain as goods move from the field to the pack house, into distribution and all the way to the retailer. Participants receive 12 Intelleflex TMT-8500 temperature-monitoring tags, along with instructions and return packaging. They can place their tags with the produce - Intelleflex recommends one tag per pallet load - and process the pallets in the normal manner. The resulting report, the company said, can serve as a foundation for improving cold chain operations. Intelleflex readers and condition-monitoring tags use industry-standard, battery-assisted passive radio frequency identification (RFID) to monitor temperatures. The devices can read through pallets and containers, the vendor noted.
