C.H. Robinson Worldwide has launched a new mobile application for motor carriers. Dubbed CHRWtrucks.com, the tool allows a trucker to enter pickup information, check calls and access delivery data as information is populated by location services on the user's smartphone. In addition, carriers can post empty-equipment locations, allowing C.H. Robinson employees to look for load matches to help fill trucks and reduce empty miles. Relevant information associated with a shipment appears on the carrier's phone, reducing the need for phone calls, e-mailing or faxing of shipment information. The application can also launch mapping software on smartphones, to provide directions to the shipper or consignee from the phone's current location. The app can be downloaded for free in iTunes, at the Android market and here. C.H. Robinson works with some 49,000 transportation providers worldwide.
