Datalogic S.p.A. has entered into an agreement to acquire Accu-Sort Systems Inc., a U.S.-based supplier of automatic identification products, from subsidiaries of Danaher Corp. The deal promises to double Datalogic's presence in the industrial automation industry "by positioning it in the high-end segment and by broadening the company's competitive position in a highly fragmented market with great growth potential," according to chief executive officer Mauro Sacchetto. Founded in 1971, Accu-Sort had revenues of approximately $92m in 2010. It has around 250 employees with one production factory in the U.S., two research centers in the U.S. and Europe, and eight sales offices. Products include dimensioning systems, print and apply units, small-item sortation systems and system integration services. Datalogic is listed on the STAR segment of the Italian Stock Exchange.
