Psion PLC has developed a new version of the Neo, its rugged handheld computer. The device integrates ultra high frequency (UHF) with radio frequency identification (RFID) technology. According to the vendor, the UHF model is easily mounted to the back of the Neo, enabling faster reading of ID tags and use in dense tag environments. The Psion Neo's new RFID capabilities were developed in collaboration with Caen RFID, an Italian designer and producer of RFID UHF readers and tags. Based on the Quark Caen RFID reader, the module can combine linear or circular polarized antennas, providing users with multi-regional capabilities. The device also supports the EPC C1 G2 and ISO 18000-6C protocols, and is CE, FCC and ICC-certified.
