The forum's first complete standard is aimed at providers and acquirers of commercial off-the-shelf information and communication-technology products. It will help organizations to achieve Trusted Technology Provider status, with the goal of assuring the integrity of related products and safeguarding the global supply chain against cyber-attacks. Intended to prevent maliciously tainted and counterfeit products from entering the supply chain, the first release of O-TTPS codifies best practices across the product lifecycle, covering such processes as design, sourcing, build, fulfillment, distribution, sustainment and disposal. The Open Group said it is working to develop an accreditation program to help ensure that Trusted Technology Providers conform to the new standard. Launch of the O-TTPS follows the release of a draft version, which became available in March of 2012.
