The tool calculates carbon-dioxide emissions savings, providing comparative data among transportation choices. Accessing the calculator at www.csx.com, the user is prompted to enter a shipment's weight and miles shipped. In response, the calculator displays the estimated CO2 savings of shipping by rail. CSXT is a member of the Environmental Protection Agency's Climate Leaders program, under which participants commit to reduce emissions and seek other means of achieving environmental benefits. CSXT is an operating company of CSX Corp., a provider of rail, intermodal and rail-to-truck services.
