IFS has integrated an Eco-Footprint Management tool into IFS Applications, the vendor's software suite. The product is intended to help companies cut costs and carbon emissions, and meet impending environmental regulations. Customers can track the impact of a broad spectrum of activities, ranging from raw material sourcing to product design and logistics. In the process, they can analyze operations, discern environmental patterns and plan for upcoming legislative requirements. Existing components within IFS Applications that capture financial cost will now be able to monitor carbon monoxide, lead sulfur and other environmental impacts as an additional cost. For example, users will be able to assign different carbon footprints to various methods of transport, allowing for the evaluation of both environmental and financial impacts. The application will help IFS customers to comply with upcoming environmental measures such as the Europe's EuP Directive, Environmental Liability Directive and REACH (Restriction, Evaluation and Authorization of Chemicals) regulation, as well as the Blueprint for Legislative Action against climate change, as proposed by the U.S. Climate Action Partnership.
