Omni-ID, a supplier of passive UHF radio frequency identification (RFID) tags, has established a new subsidiary in Qingdao China, under the name of Omni-ID High Science & Technology Co. Ltd. The venture is located within the Qingdao Export Processing Zone. The subsidiary, which includes a manufacturing facility, will allow Omni-ID to assert better control over its own supply chain, the vendor says. The result, says Omni-ID, will be increased production capacity, improved quality and timely delivery of product. It says the new unit was a response to increased market demand for Omni-ID's passive RFID tags. The facility will be devoted exclusively to the production, assembly and quality assurance of the company's line of tags and services. The Qingdao site features an extensive logistics infrastructure and proximity to an international airport, one of the world's largest seaports, and round-the-clock customs processing, Omni-ID says.
