United Cargo, the freight-handling arm of United Airlines, has launched Temp Control, a new service for the shipping of healthcare and pharmaceutical products that require strict temperature controls and monitoring while in transport. Temp Control offers three temperature ranges: Freeze (from -10 to -20 degrees Celsius), Cool (from 2 to 8 degrees C) and Ambient (from 15 to 25 degrees C). A customer-service team provides proactive shipment-temperature notification, available 24 hours a day. Temperature readings are taken at specific points in the shipment's transport. United Cargo is working with Envirotainer, a provider of temperature-controlled air-cargo containers. The airline carries cargo on nearly 3,300 flights per day, to more than 200 U.S. and international destinations. More than 400 additional destinations are available through United Cargo's network of interline partners. United offers two options for booking and managing shipments: its website, unitedcargo.com, and cargoportalservices.com, an air-cargo internet portal.
