JDA Software Group has demonstrated a new software application supporting managed services for transportation and logistics. Aimed at companies lacking internal IT and capital resources, JDA TMS Managed Services allows users to draw on the capabilities of the vendor's transportation and logistics management software, in a software-as-a-service mode. JDA is supplementing TMS applications available through traditional on-premise deployment with a preconfigured offering that can yield measurable improvements within eight to 12 weeks, the vendor claimed. The managed-services offering can scale from a simple regional logistics setup to a complex, multimodal global network. Companies can avoid up-front capital investment, hiring of specialized staff and the costs associated with software, maintenance, network and infrastructure upgrades, JDA said.
