PeopleNet is partnering with Carrier Logistics Inc. (CLI) on a new product for improving communications between drivers and dispatchers. PeopleNet is a vendor of internet-based tools for managing onboard computing and mobile communications. CLI sells software for less-than-truckload carriers and logistics companies. The new partnership is using the PeopleNet Link as a means of data retrieval and population into CLI's FACTS software, to speed up driver-dispatcher communications. Drivers for some carriers using CLI's software currently phone in information to dispatchers, who manually enter it into the FACTS system. They can now integrate global positioning system location data, along with inbound, outbound and freeform messaging data, to make better use of FACTS. Key in-transit, arrival and departure events can be communicated back to FACTS automatically, with the added ability to create PACOS Geofencing dispatches. FACTS is CLI's stand-alone freight-management system, designed specifically for multi-terminal, high-volume freight bill environments. The suite integrates routing and dispatch capabilities with billing and administrative functionality, and includes a complete financial suite for the LTL and small-package industries.
