Motorola Inc.'s Enterprise Mobility Solutions division has introduced a new set of rugged digital barcode scanners. The DS3500 series is designed for harsh industrial environments. It performs data capture on both one- and two-dimensional barcodes, images and direct part marks, as well as providing Item Unique Identification (IUID) support. The devices are equipped with a 624 MHz microprocessor, with the ability to decode barcodes in milliseconds, regardless of size or density, according to Motorola. Fast-pulse illumination and a fast sensor shutter speed aid in increased throughput, the vendor said. Omni-directional scanning functionality allows for the rapid capture of barcodes from any angle. The DS3500 series is available in six models, both corded and cordless, and equipped with integrated Bluetooth capability in the case of the latter. Other features include bright LED screens, an adjustable volume beeper and vibrating pager motor in the handle.
