Sterling Commerce has developed the Sterling TMS Carrier Mobile App for use on the Apple iPhone. The product is now available on the App Store. It allows shippers and carriers to respond to tenders and provide real-time shipment status. The application works with Sterling Transportation Management System, an on-demand offering which incorporates a collaborative logistics network of more than 8,500 carriers transacting more than eight million shipments per year. Carriers can use Sterling TMS Carrier Mobile to respond to time-sensitive tender requests when away from a computer. Shippers can plan based on access to more frequent updates from carriers, especially for long-haul shipments, according to Sterling. The vendor's Selling and Fulfillment Suite allows for planning and execution of both inbound and outbound transportation processes. It offers shipment visibility, proactive notification of potential customer-service issues, cost and service reporting and control over the freight-management process.
