Wavelink Corp. has entered into a strategic partnership with InfoLogix, Inc. to provide voice-enabled mobile systems to users of software from SAP AG. The arrangement adds voice capabilities to SAP warehousing and inventory-management transactions, allowing for hands-free operation. Results, the partners claimed, include increased safety on the floor, improved workflow productivity and more accurate data input. Customers get the voice functionality of Wavelink Speakeasy combined with the expertise of InfoLogix in SAP supply-chain execution tools. The Speakeasy voice platform offers client-resident, text-to-speech and speech-to-text engines, along with automated voice features that are device, server, application and network independent. Users can add voice capabilities to existing applications and hardware while avoiding expensive modifications or replacements, the companies said. In a related announcement, Wavelink has made several enhancements to ConnectPro. The system, formerly known as TermProxy, allows mobile users to stay connected to host systems in all environments across Wi-Fi and wide-area networks (WANs). The new release of ConnectPro upgrades to OpenSSL 0.9.8m, adds support for hosts with multiple consecutive ports, and improves Telnet client protocol with newer clients, to better detect whether network disconnects are intentional or caused by network errors.
