EBE Technologies, a vendor of software for document and content management and business-process automation for the transportation industry, has added fraud-detection capability to its Logistics Management software. The new function works with the company's carrier on-boarding application. It compares the phone number and address of a carrier completing an online application with data contained within the databases of the Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration and WhitePages.com. For a carrier packet to be created and released to potential carriers, all sources must match. If they don't, the application is rerouted into a workflow queue and sorted by the data exception. As an additional safeguard, the fraud-detection function compares addresses and phone numbers residing within EBE's Carrier On-Boarding database. Yet another capability of the module ensures that the carrier to which the load was brokered is the same one that arrives at the shipper's location. As a rate confirmation is received, the system sends a notification to the shipper with the carrier information. If a different carrier arrives to move the shipment, the shipper alerts the logistics company, which then determines whether the move was re-brokered or is in danger of being stolen.
