CargoSmart Ltd. has developed what it claims is the first sailing schedules application for shippers, logistics service providers and ocean carriers available on the iPhone. CargoSmart is a provider of global shipping and logistics applications under a software-as-a-service (SaaS) model. For more than 10 years, it has provided multiple-carrier sailing schedules online, as well as fed data directly to customers' in-house systems by electronic data interchange, XML and Web services. The newest app lets iPhone users access sailing schedules from their smartphones, by carrier, origin city and destination city criteria. The search results also show departure and arrival dates and transit times. Users can share schedule search results by e-mail and SMS with colleagues and customers directly from their iPhones. CargoSmart currently offers schedules from 15 ocean carriers, and has plans to expand the database to additional carriers. The new application is compatible with Apple iOS 4.0 or above with a 3G or Wi-Fi-enabled iPhone. Initial pricing is $4.99.
